A California native, I grew up with friends and neighbors with backgrounds much different than my own. I have always been interested cultures, languages, and the history of other countries; working with international students at DSU has allowed me to continue to learn, grow, and to come to a better understanding of the perspectives of other global citizens.
As a life-long learner, I have a passion for helping others learn about themselves and the world around them. I have worked in education since 2007 and have been an Academic Advisor at DSU since 2013.
One of the best pieces of advice I can offer to students is to go to class! So many problems are avoided by simply going to class. My students often hear me call mistakes ‘learning opportunities’. I firmly believe what Henry Ford said, “The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.”
When not on campus, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, playing with my pets, quilting, swimming, and getting lost for hours in a good book.
