As Smart Plan at UT evolves, more of our degree programs will be available. The first six programs, ready for Spring ’27 registration, include:

Smart Plan FAQs

How do I access Smart Plan?

If your program is available, Smart Plan will be linked in the My Docs section of myUT, the same way as other university systems.

Is Smart Plan different from Degree Works?

Smart Plan is a degree planning tool that works in tandem with Degree Works, guiding students through their degree plan to stay on track and graduate on time. It allows students to dynamically plan, register, and collaborate with their academic advisor while at Utah Tech. This tool does not replace Degree Works, which should continue to be used to review progress toward degree completion.

Does Smart Plan consider my placement scores?

Yes. Your placement scores are loaded into Smart Plan and count toward satisfying prerequisites or unlocking access to certain courses and programs.

How does Smart Plan affect transfer students?

Once your transfer credits have been processed, Smart Plan incorporates those credits and adjusts your plan accordingly.

How easy is it to change my Smart Plan, like if I switch majors?

Very easy. You can run a “what if” scenario anytime to see how a change would affect your graduation timeline before you commit to it. Your plan is available to you at all times, so you can make changes whenever you need to and register for classes directly through Smart Plan.

I'm an online-only student — can I see just online courses?

Yes. You can filter your plan to show only online course offerings if that’s how you prefer to take classes.
